How much is the "DVD Player" application on the Mac?

James

Is it free? Or is there a price?

Answer
The DVD player app on the Mac is bundled with OS X and comes free with every new Mac. You cannot buy it separately.

dvd burning?

Amandaa K

hi i use lime wire and download avi and mpg to dvd -rw and some will play on my dvd player on my tv and some will not, why is this? Some of them are too big to and wont fit on disk step by step how to i fix this so i can play them oh tv dvd recorder. Also i decided to use dvr-r instead of rw. My dvd recorder will say invalid disk/ no disk after I burn a something i know works on the disk .HELP IM NOT GOOD AT THIS STUFF BUT NEED TO BE.

Answer
1st- .avi's are usually DivX (a pay for use app-easy to use) or XVid (freeware but difficult to master). These wont play on standard DVD players unless they say DivX Certified. They will have to be converted to a standard MPEG using software like Nero Vision.

2nd-All MPEGS are not DVD compliant.

3rd-To shrink the movies, use DVDShrink. The easiest ripper is 1ClickDVDCopy. It'll rip and shrink the movie automatically.

4th-Most players wont read a dvd-rw. Just use dvd-r's.
5th-Dump limewire and use a bittorrent client like utorrent.

To learn the ins and outs of cd/dvd burning try http://www.afterdawn.com or http://www.doom9.org These sites are dedicated to recording. They offer plenty of tutorials from beginner to expert.
For bittorrent try http://dessent.net/btfaq/
Good luck....
