What can I do to stop the dvd player mounted to the roof of my car from vibrating?

Paul And L

I'm pretty sure the dvd player in my car is not factory. It vibrates a lot when I'm driving and is seriously annoying. I tried tightening the screws but it did not help. I took it to a professional who did not have any good ideas to stop the vibrating. He said because of the sunroof he couldn't add a bracket to the top of it.

I'm really just looking for some sort of cushioning to put in between the dvd player and the roof of the car. If anyone has any ideas or can put me on to a product I'd really appreciate it.

Answer
Some rubber or foam?

Bypass 2008 Hyundai SantaFe DVD?

I would like to know how I would be able to get around the safety feature which makes you unable to watch movies while driving. I find it very annoying mainly because there are usually more than 1 child in the car that would like to watch the movie while we are going somewhere in the car. Any ideas?

Answer
If your DVD player is the factory one mounted on the roof, it will work anytime the vehicle is switched on. It wouldn't matter if the vehicle was moving or not, since it is for the rear seat passengers. If your referring to the Nav screen on the instrument panel, then you cannot watch movies on that one. Let the kids sit in the back.

portable DVD player?

.:

I want to buy a portable DVD player.

Must have 10 inch screen or LOWER
Great quality
Well known company [not a must but I'd like so]

Answer
Everyone should have a portable DVD player because they can be hooked up to a TV like a regular DVD player.

I bought a LG® Portable DVD Player (2007) with 7" Screen LPA837, a CENTRIOS⢠(2006, The Source/old Radio Shack) brand 7" PORTABLE DVD PLAYER, and a Casio EV-680 3-inch portable TV.

I have been overall safisfied with all 3 products, and like taking my DVD player to go through a lot of CDs in libraries.

I just bought the LG because I'm loyal to Sears, and this was the only model with a USB port at Sears. I don't like to shop.

A must for a portable DVD player is a USB port, so I can enjoy MP3/WMA music, JPEG images, or DivX MPEG videos from my computer on my DVD player or on my TV using the audio/visual jacks.

My Centrios battery lasted 2 hours, and the smaller LG batter lasts 3 hours, 20 minutes. An annoyance is my LG won't charge while I'm watching it, but the Centrios can do both at the same

My LG better for viewing JPEG images because often to fill the screen with a portrait, I have to put the DVD player on its side, but the shapes and locations of jacks on the Centrios make this difficult. time.

I still wish my portable TV (maybe even a radio) were built into my portable DVD. player, and my last 2 links list some; however Synco is a Chinese company that I don't know, and the player referred to in Yahoo Answers has no USB port.

My Casio TV has been good too, but the rechargeable batteries only last about 1 hr., so I use a universal adapter for both my Casio TV and cell phone, and just find places to plug it in. I wish it had a radio because batteries do last a long time using radios. Portable TVs are hard to find in stores, so you should use the internet.

The 3 inch screen on the Casio TV is too small for watching any sports because the ball is small. Reception is a problem in about half of the locations you try. The biggest problem with my Casio TV is it is not stereo, which can make it harder to listen too, so I just take out the earphones usually.

Make sure you don't get told you are stealing power. At $0.11/kWh in Alberta, Canada, it costs hardly anything, but it's the principle.

will tv work on USA portable dvd player in UK?

tech

i have a portable dvd player with a TV tuner that i bought in the USA i was wondering if i could watch TV in the UK with it.

Answer
In a word: no.

There are too many things that could've create anamoly on-screen, disregard the Region Code gaffe about DVDs I am talking about TV; tuner for one, is it tuned to go to British channels? This is probably OK since I have a Taiwanese tuner working wonderfully in Canada.

But next part is not OK, European TV signals use PAL but Taiwan/Japan/US/Canada use NTSC, even if you can hook them all up there would be picture anamoly as PAL signal going into a NTSC box the phase is all wrong. I am not aware of any PAL-NTSC phase shifter adapters.

What is the very best multimedia player for Windows 7?

Q. Obviously, I have Windows Media Player 11, it's good, but only good. I also have Winamp, which is the BEST for a music Player, but it doesn't play DVDs. I'm looking for the VERY best Multimedia Player. And definitely not iTunes, the common uninformed bunch might tell you that iTunes is the best ever. But it's along those that use the most RAM, and that sucks. I need balance between features. dvd player video quality?

JC

ok i bought a dvd player and i noticed u could use a hdmi cable on it ok so my question is what do hdmi cables do. do they improve the dvd quality or something?

Answer
What it usually means when a DVD player has an HDMI connection is that it has the ability to upscale DVDs to play on an HDTV monitor. This sometimes, but not always, improves the image quality of DVDs a little bit, but your HDTV also has an upscaling chip in it, which it will use by default. Sometimes the upscaler in the HDTV is better than the one in your DVD player, so try it both ways and see which looks best.

HDMI also offers the added convenience of carrying audio from your DVD player as well as video, so you will only need the one cable instead of two.

EMP device instructions please?

Ricardo

iv'e got many electronic devices at home that i don't use anymore or are broken (a ps3, a dvd player, some controllers(tv/ps3), cellphones, camera's and microwaves or magnetron's). the idea is to make an EMP device for a project for school.

NOTE: this info will be used for further study of electronics and not for private use!

it doesn't have to be the biggest EMP device of all it just has to work! also it will be made just demonstrate to the audience what an EMP can do, as a target we'll be using a cellphone or calculator. therefore it means that the range doesn't need to be that big as well, i would like my spectators to come closer and see whitout having their phones jammed. if the info could be send via video or picture than that'd be great! and if it can be used again, than that would be a BONUS!
thank you for, reading i expect positive results.

Answer
Two basic problems with your approach:

1) you can't generate something that would classify as an EMP in this way. For an EMP, you'll need a very (_VERY_) fast change in an electromagnetic field. There is one method proven to work, which is a nuclear bomb. The other published, possibly only theoretical, method is the controlled explosive compression of a current carrying coil.

2) be glad that you can't. You won't be able to limit the range of your EMP - if you can be sure to destroy a phone at 1 foot, you can't be sure that it won't at least damage all (or at least some) other phones at 10 feet.

what is the deal with upconverting DVD players? DVDs do not have HD info inside them.

ruderitali

I am assuming that the sole purpose of an upconverting DVD player is to display the DVD at original 16:9 ratio in its full 852x480 resolution (that is if the DVD actually contains 852x480 resolution(lots of DVDs are 4:3 ratio with 720x480 standard resolution).

But heres the thing, as far as I know, in order for something to be HD, it needs to be at least 1280Ã720 resolution. Therefore if someone says a upconverting DVD player converts DVD to HD then they are lying. -source for minimum HD requirments(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-definition_television(see "Digital Video Resolutions"(ctrl f)))

What are your thoughts?

Answer
The specs you are describing would be for 'true hd.'

Basically the dvd player is basically using some neat mathematical 'extrapolation' method to blow up the DVD image to fit on an HD screen.

Technically, its not lying. Its just one of those things where the consumer needs to read the fine print.

best deal on tv with dvd players?

Mandy's Pl

Answer
Don't get one. With DVD players down to $39, there's no reason to. If the player fails, it often takes the TV with it. Then you have to get the TV repaired.
There are many posts here in answers from people who have no TV because their DVD failed. Running out and buying a DVD player to hook yup to the TV isn't an option. You have to get it repaired-and it will cost a lot more than a new DVD player.

Have a 40" westinghouse tv with built-in DVD player but remote has HDMI button- what's it for?

MOEJ

This TV is viewed by a bed-ridden elderly woman who uses the remote, but doesn't know what the HDMI button is for. Shortly she'll be using a laptop computer from her bed and is a 25' cable ok to connect it?

Answer
The HDMI button is to select the HDMI input on your TV. HDMI is High Definition (HD). So, if she is using any HD device, she can select that to watch whatever is plugged into the HDMI input on the TV. It will only show it in HD if the device has HD, like a HD DVD player, HD Video Game System, or if your cable has HD, stuff like that. It can also play stuff that doesn't use HD too.

As for the laptop cable, I'm not sure what you're asking there. Do you mean an ethernet cord (cord to connects the computer to the internet)? If so, then sure, it doesn't matter how long the cord is, only that it reaches the laptop.

BluRay Players will not work?

Pirate Of

I've bought two separate bluray dvd players that have wifi with Netflix. First one was Phillips and second was $25 more and a Sony. Each one picture fails plugged up through my HDMI on my Vizio TV. The Sony picture is either scrambled or says Not Supported. The Phillips would just not show. Every once in a while with plugging and unplugging it the picture will show up. Why is it doing this?

Answer
if two players did the same thing I'd think its your TV that;s at fault . it could be your tv can't support 1080p or 720p or the hdmi port is damaged , or you could have some settings on the tv wrong such as not setting it to 16:9

a not supported message basically is telling you this resolution picture is not supported on this device , on some of the cheaper TV brands like vizio it sometimes happens just because the TVs processor is too slow and at times just turning the tv off for a few seconds then on again can fix this error

Should a buy a blu-ray dvd player?

PrincessSp

I would like to buy a blu-ray player, but am weary because I know they will be replaced soon, like dvds before them, and videos before them. So should I buy one? If there's not going to be something bigger and better in the next 5 years I will get one. I don't want to waste my money if it's going to be replaced in the next couple of years. Thanks

Answer
Considering that VHS lasted for 25 years and DVD have already been out for a decade and are still going strong, I would say that those aren't very good comparisons. Now if you are afraid that they will be like Beta Max and Laser Disc, then you have a point. But I seriously doubt that it will happen. At least not at this point in the game. Allow me to explain why.

Laser disk, which only lasted about 3 years, failed because of serious design flaws. Instead of waiting just a couple of more years for technology to catch up with their idea and allow the movies to be put on smaller discs, the laser discs were the size of record albums. This made them bulky and easily scratched with handling. They also required the use to flip them in the middle of the movie, which made for crappy viewing. Sure, the video was nice, but that was the only advantage.

I don't think you will ever have to worry about Blu-Ray going the route of the Laser Disc for the simple fact that all it really is is a much improved DVD. DVDs have proven themselves handy and that people like them. There is no flipping in the middle of the movies and people like the size of the discs. The only major change from DVD to Blu-Ray (from the users point of view) is the improved video and audio clarity. These are both advantages. Other than cost (which has significantly dropped), there is no real down side. In fact, many Blu-Ray players now can stream netflix movies, read, USB memory sticks, and more. These are advantages that will be around for some time to come.

Beta Max failed because of format wars between Beta Max and VHS. These two products were simply too similar and came out at relatively the same time. VHS obviously won the war.

I don't think you have to worry about Blu-Ray following in the footsteps of the Beta Max players either since they already won a similar format war between HD DVD and themselves. Of course Sony played a large part in their victory.

Since there is no format war currently being fought, and since the Blu-Ray disc is very user friendly, I think it's safe to say that they have a well extablished footing in todays market and should be around for a while.

Help! What is a multi-region dvd player?!?

MandyLee

Okay, so for Christmas I am asking for a Korean movie called "Attack on the Pin-up Boys" starring the Korean boy band, Super Junior.
I'm looking on Ebay to find the best deal and package and stuff but then I see it says things like,
"multi-region dvd player required!"
I don't really understand what that means.
I live in the USA, is there a special kind of dvd player that I need to get for it to work? How do I know it's a multi-region dvd player?
I would appreciate help very much! I don't want to buy the dvd and find out that it won't work on my dvd player.
thanks!
Also -- how do I know if it's a region 1 dvd or multi-region?
will it say it on the box of the dvd player or directly on it?
is it going to say it plain out like, "Region 1 dvd player"
or is it weird coding?

Answer
i have that movie i suggest buying it from yesasia.com since its asia central for k-pop and others and it you want to buy other suju stuff since over $40 is free shipping and over $50 you get a $5 coupon.

you can watch it on your computer if you can't find a multi region dvd player.

north america dvd players are region 1.

since that movie is korean, it's region 3.

japan uses region 2.

on your computer though, you can only change the regions 5 times and the fifth time, whatever region it is, it gets stuck in that region.

you have to get a dvd that can play any region.

if you want to buy a new dvd for the movie, just look up all region dvd player and buy one.

otherwise you can watch it on your computer if you plan on only watching korean dvds on your computer.

Are xbox's multi region dvd players?

Nope. 360s are region dependent just like most dvd players.

Hooking up DVD player to LG HDTV?

10S Player

I have hooked the DVD player up to the TV, but I can't get a picture, just snow. Do I have to turn off the DVR (I have DIrecTV), and if I do that, how do I get the DVD player to work using my TV Remote (not the DirecTV/DVR remote)?

Answer
DVD Player should have:

S-Video (round with 4-5 pins)
Component Video (three colors red, blue, green)
Composite Video (yellow)
HDMI (one slot)

Now the DVD Player has nothing to do with directV tuner. So you should have some video ports on the rear. Match the port to what you have on the rear of the DVD Player to your HDTV.

DVD Player should have it's own remote, but if you want to use LG remote it has to be universal and it has to be able to be programed or have learning features. If it doesn't then you need to go and buy a universal remote control, that supports your LG, DVD Player and DirectTV Tuner with DVR.

Note sometimes you can't get one that supports everything then you need one that can be programmed or have learning features.

Hi, If I purchase a dvd player that plays divx does this mean that this player will play .avi files ?? It is so much quicker to burn a downloaded avi to a dvd+r rather than having to convert the avi to dvd and then burn it, and I was just looking to save time by finding a player that will play avi's.

Thanks

Answer
Many DVD players out there claim playing divx, however they don't always work.
The standard format is the .Vob/.Ifo - MPEG2 format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, never had a problem!

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD.

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DVD-Converter/AVI-DivX-XVid-to-DVD.php?exact=ConvertXtoDVD3

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, mp4, avi to dvd

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click "Convert"

5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

ConvertXtoDVD has a lot of extra nice features too,
for example you can make your own ANIMATED DVD menu or auto-generate it, add subtitles, auto-burn to dvd or save your conversion.
