best portable dvd player kids car image

Matt

I am going on a trip in my familys holden captiva which has a portable dvd player inbuilt and i was wondering how to connect my ps2 to the portable dvd player. I have heard that you need a power inverter that goes into the lighter, is this correct. And also what cords do you need to plug it into the actual dvd player? Thx if you could help.

Answer
That's just plain lazy parenting. depending on your kids ages plan stops at intervals so the kids can get out, play and stretch. that's better for them and for you.

I would like to add that this is what my family and from come some of my favorite trip memories. take the chance to really bond and have some fun as a family on the way to your destination not just once your there. your trip starts when you leave home not when you get to your destination

Does anyone know of a laptop holder or harness for my car?

Why is there no audio when I burn a dvd using windows 7 media center?

kristi_wil

The audio track is clear. The audio plays on the pc after it encodes, so the encode is good. When I burn to dvd, the audio is not there. I checked three separate dvd players without success. I checked filters in windows media burner, then unchecked them. I've ran out of disks, but I would really like to solve this issue. I need an answer before my aunts birthday (May 6th). I compiled several years of video for her.

Is there a blu-ray dvd player i can attach a external hard drive to?

best blu ray dvd player on best sellers the new york times best sellers children s books ...
best blu ray dvd player image

justin

I'm looking for a blu-ray DVD player that I can attach a external hard drive to. I want to be able to download movies from my computer to the external hard drive an be able to watch it on my HD 1080p TV. Not just movies I want to be able to listen to music as well.

Answer
Some of the BluRay players are 'smart' and will play a few file formats from a USB drive.

But most televisions and BluRay players will NOT work with a USB hard drive.

If you want to do this - get a media server. Look at the Western Digital TV Live box. This thing WILL work with USB hard drives, gives you 20+ apps for YouTube, Netflix, HuluPlus, Pandora, etc. It will also work wirelessly from your PC. The WD box plays most file formats include .MP3's.

A cheaper version is the Roku2 units for about $60, but it does not play as many file formats.

Hope this helps.

Why is it hard to find portable blu-ray players?

best portable dvd player 9 inch on Koolertron 9 Inch Portable DVD Player - Best Portable DVD Player 2012
best portable dvd player 9 inch image

Grendleand

Portable dvd players are plentiful and cheap. Portable blu-ray players are rare. Why is this?

Answer
The point of BluRay is to contain HDTV video. To have a portable BluRay player - the screen would have to support HD video as well. HD is kind of pointless for a 9 inch screen.

Many big titles come in a Combo Pack with a BluRay, DVD and a digital download code. If you want to take a movie on the go - you get the digital download and watch it on your phone or tablet. Or better yet -stream from Netflix/Hulu, etc.

With all these alternatives - why create a mechanical device to play BluRay on a tiny screen?

Any suggestion for a portable DVD player for the car that allows game system hookup?

momofdoubl

Would prefer a portable DVD system with dual screens, and would like to have it with a battery. I saw a perfect one by Venturer, an 8.4" dual screen system, but can't find it at any store online or otherwise. I tried to email Venturer, and message failed. I am at a loss for what other system might work. We want to take on a long road trip and let the kids hook up their game system for the hours on the road.

Answer
I only found the 9 inch. It does all the same as the 8, but the reviews on it were lousy.
Everyone had problems with the latch on the door cover of the DVD.

Here is another dual player. I don't know what your budget is but this will do the same. Reviews are 83% positive
Good Luck!

How can I conver my mpeg videos to play on my standard DVD player?

I have a lightscribe dvd player and windows XP. was using nero software that translated it but now the subscription expired. nero wants $80 for the new version. is there free software to burn mpeg to dvd?

Answer
http://www.download.com/DVD-Tools/3150-7970_4-0.html?tag=dir

go here and investigate burning tools at cnet.com. The link is to the dvd software download page. Most of them will have trials then you'll have to buy but there may be a few free ones on the list. If you do a lot of internet downloading of video files etc... try Plato it works great. You can convert almost any video file from the internet into dvd quality... even streaming video... it's pretty amazing.

Australia is region 4, USA and Canada are region 1, I want to buy some TV series on DVD which are 10x cheaper in region 1 format, if I spend $30 on a multi-region DVD player will I be able to watch region 1 DVDs on it? I assume it should work since it's called a multi-region DVD player but I can totally imagine that after I buy one I'll find out it doesn't bloody work or something.

Answer
More than likely such a player will ignore region altogether, and convert the video format on the disc to your TV format.

The only real issue is getting US based DVD vendors to ship to Australia at all.

good dvd player that plays dvds from different regions?

LonelyBast

I'm looking for a dvd players that plays dvds from other regions (0, 2, 4, etc) I live in America (Reg 1) and have always wanted to get a player that does that but don't know what a good brand is or how easy one can be bought. Thanks.

Answer
You cannot openly buy them, or more accurately, other than Region 1 only players cannot be openly sold in The USA/Canada.

Many low end "import" players are easily hackable, or may be region free even. Those can usually be easily bought at discount electronics and department stores.

There is no such thing as Region 0, BTW.

Eerie

i have a couple of my favorite tvs i wanna buy on dvd but its says they arent compatible with US dvd players. the dvds are from australia. what do i need to do. should i buy a different dvd player or is there a way around that?

Answer
The first problem you're facing is that a US DVD player and an Australian DVD have different region codes. The US is region code 1 and Australia is region code 4.
Australia uses PAL as it's television standard and the US uses NTSC (old analog format) or ATSC (new digital format). Your DVD player may be able to handle either format. Check the user manual to see what it says about this.
You need to make sure you deal with both issues. Surprisingly, the cheaper DVD players often don't care about region. They say they do but in actuality they don't care. I'd guess that it's the region issue that's stopping you. Check the links below to see if you can change the region code on your player and go from there.

Anthony

i'm trying to mount a panasonic dvd player with a flip down screen to the roof of my 2004 chevy impala. it is an after market set up so it should be universal. but i bought it used and have no mounting instructions to go off of.

Answer
you will most likely have to remove the dome light from the car and mount the plate from the dvd player to that, if you dont have the mounting plate then you need to get that first. and make sure you have the correct screws for the plate. once you have those items you will have to run the correct wires depending on what your dome light supplies and what the dvd player requires. if you dont have much car audio experience and the tools for the job i say let a pro shop do it. since you can easily punch a whole through the roof of your car and then your s.o.l.

Is it hard to install a roof-mounted DVD player in my minivan? I don't want to pay someone else to do it. ?

Do they sell DVD players that can easily be mounted to the roof of the minivan without having to pay someone to do it?

SIMS 3 Installing issues, please advise- Internet connection and origin account required to play?

best dvd player software 2012 on DownHacker: Download - Any DVD Converter Pro 4.5.9
best dvd player software 2012 image

Anna

Hi, I recently received Sims 3 as a gift. However I have noticed there are two versions of the base game: the 2009 release (http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Sims-PC-Mac-DVD/dp/B0015YDH6O/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1364158654&sr=8-2) and the 2012 release (http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Sims-3-PC-DVD/dp/B00AHRD69S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1364158654&sr=8-1).

I have the latest version which states "internet connection, origin account, acceptance of product and origin end user license agreements, installation of the origin client software, registration with enclosed single-user serial codes and the latest sims 3 patch required to play."

This concerns me as I really would prefer to be able to install the game from the disc without needing origin, so if at any time in the future I want to install the game and origin is not available for whatever reason then it doesn't matter as the game will still work without it. Also I do not like the idea of having to download the game online, as this could be a real time-consuming hassle and makes me confused about the point of buying the disc at all.

I was told that I won't need origin or the internet to install and run the game I have, but from my understanding from what the package says I have been misinformed. However I could be worrying about nothing so if anyone could advise me that would be great. I've only ever played Sims 2 so this is all new to me.

Answer
You don't need origin to play. Origin is just the game connecting to the sims website through the internet. (Basically connecting with other players, buying in game accessories with real money, and sharing your in-game activities with FB or the sims website.) You do not need to connect to origin nor do you need an account.

I don't believe you'll need Internet to install the game since you have it on CD, but you will need the Internet to update with the current patches. Patches fix bugs in the game and generally make the game better. (A recent patch made the movement of the horse's legs in Sims 3 Pets look more natural.) You can check the website to see what exactly the patches are doing.

Is there a safe download for Panasonic VideoCam Suite 1.0 available ? Any viable replacements?

KenK

I removed Videocam Suite 1.0 from my PC last night, while I was trying to fix a problem. I thought I still had the CD, but could not locate it. I saw a number of places where it could be downloaded from, but it requires installing additional software, and I prefer not to do that. I contacted Panasonic today, and was told it is no longer available for download, and would have to be purchased. If I have to pay for a program, I will purchase something else that works properly every time.
My second questions is for recommendations on a program that is similar to VideoCam Suite that can download (from Panasonic camera), edit and (most importantly) create a DVD that can be use on any PC/DVD player.
I should add that my PC is running Windows Vista. I also have a laptop that has Windows 7,so would be looking for a program that can run on those platforms.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Ken

Answer
Hi Ken, and welcome back to Yahoo!Answers:

First, I was able to download VideoCam Suite 1.0 from Panasonic as recently as this past May (May 2012), but I believe the site required a Panasonic camcorder serial number to enable the download link. It's still available on the Japan Global (English) Panasonic support website -- have your serial number from your camcorder's sticker handy: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/soft/download/vcs10ee_w7.html

But regardless of that, if you haven't turned-off your Windows System Restore features, you can just use a Restore Point previous to your "last night" deletion (and pick one before the "cause" of your other problem you were trying to fix, if possible!) and you'll have your Suite back.

As for other apps or programs, try telling us exactly which Panasonic camera model you have. There are dozens of types, storage formats, and file formats. Some are better-suited for newer AVCHD formats, while others are customized for mini-DVD files (like in the Palmcorder series).

And after you get your Suite back, you might consider doing a full backup of your Vista PC and switching it to a "better" Windows version (even XP was a more stable version than Vista!). Many apps didn't work well (or at all) with Vista; and some had driver/compatibility issues with Win7.

As for your Win7 laptop, the download version of VideoCam Suite (version 1.0L822) is both Vista and Win7 compatible.

I keep all my edit PCs running on a stable release of WinXP, and have no compatibility or driver issues, and it's less of a memory hog than later Windows releases.

hope this helps,
--Dennis C.

Is a HD Dvd player compatible with a Regular TV?

Q. I want to buy a multi-region dvd player but the one I like is a HD Dvd player. However, I own a regular non-HD TV. Will the player work with my TV?

Answer
If your tv supports and of the cable connections, then yes. You however will not experience the full HD effect.

Most DVD players have component cable support, with the newer HD models using HDMI and components. If your tv can connect with component or HDMI, then you are good.

best home dvd players image

Is there a way to connect a home dvd player to a computer monitor? If so are there converter cables available or instructions on how to make your own?
Add a reply

Answer
In a nutshell... YES!

More broadly, the method all depends on what you have available...
1. What output(s) does the Player have?
2. What input(s) does the monitor have?

If your output=input, then all you would need is a cable to connect them together e.g. s-video output and s-video input, all you need is the s-video cable (usually the cable is of male-male type)
There are multiple common input/output connectors for these devices:
1. S-video (already mentioned) (both devices)
2. RCA (RF type connector) (both devices)
3. Optical - (both devices - although these are very rare on a monitor)
4. VGA (15 pin connector - monitors only - have not heard of this on a DVD player)
5. DVI (most commonly on LCD, TFT and plasma monitors)

Signals are either anologue or digital in nature so if your output is not equal to your input then you would need to insert a modulator between the two devices so that signal can be converted and this should sort this problem out for you.

You would need to identify the inputs & outputs and check with you local Radio Shack type store and check if there is a modulator for connecting that specific output with that specific input.

How do I play Laptop Burned DVDs on Home DVD player?

lee o7

I have burned films onto blank DVDs on my laptop but they will not play on my home DVD player.

All helpful advice is much appreciated.

Answer
its because the dvd player your using doesnt support the type of dvd your using. (dvd-r, dvd+r light scribe) just to name a few, you should try a different type of dvd, or it might also be the format of the movie ( mpg, mpeg, avi, mov) if switching dvds doesnt work, then try switching formatts with a converter, the easiest way to tell if its the dvd or the format without buying dvds is to put a store bought dvd into your computer and riping it ( you will need a decryptor cause without one your computer wont play the dvd) and then burning it to one of your dvds and try playing it, if it doesnt work then it is your dvds if it does then it is the format of the movies good luck

What is the cheapest gadget to watch Netflix on?

g_saiyaman

I work late at night, and my wife hates it if I turn on the tv. I have a portable dvd player, but buying DVDs get kind of expensive. I was wondering what the cheapest gadget would be to watch Netflix on. I already have a netflix account, and my laptop is to bulky to watch in bed comfortably, so I was to get something else.

As of right now I know the Nintendo 3ds and the Kindle Fire are available, but I am trying to see if their is something cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

Answer
You may not be able to find a cheaper gadget than the kindle fire which has the 7" of screen. The iPod has 4.3" while the 3Ds has the 3.53 and 3' of screens. So the best option for watching the netflix would be the kindle fire. Here is a good review on kindle fire from an owner of it that I think would be helpful for you as its based on total facts:

Is there a dvd player with an HDMI INPUT?

Clint

I have netflix on my laptop, but I want to be able to view it on my Tv... my Tv doesn't have an HDMI or VGA port, just the red, yellow, white, blue, and green components. My laptop has the HDMI and VGA ports. I already bought a Dvd player that I thought had the HDMI, but it was an output only. So, is it possible to even do this? To plug my laptop into a Dvd player with an HDMI cable, and then plug the Dvd player into my Tv with the components, and be able to watch netflix from my laptop? Its complicated, I know, but worth it I think if possible.

Answer
I'm quite certain there is not (not only no HDMI In but no Component In either). I wouldn't be surprised to learn that someone has cobbled something together and they may be in some countries where little attention is paid to copyright issues, but commercially and widely available DVD Recorders (you said Player, but what would a player do with an Input?), No. Content owners and equipment manufacturers (and in some cases, like Sony, for example, these are all in one company) got together long ago and decided to not make it simple for people to record High Def on a Set Top Box (STB). Of course along came Tivo and other DVR/PVR makers and of course we can all now do that anyway (but making a DVD and taking it somewhere else is, while possible, a bit tricky).
Your best bet, IMO, is to just use your component (Red/Green/Blue video and Red/White - Right/Left audio) cables from the DVD player to the TV - you'll get HD that way. Of course that still leaves getting the laptop Netfilx to the TV - that;s a whole other discussion...
BTW - I just noticed you mentioned Yellow - Yellow is not component, it is Composite - where Component uses 3 cable (R/G/B) for video, Composite puts all parts of the video on one cable (Yellow) and it is therefore not HD. Are you sure you have R/G/B? If you do, try my suggestion. If not, you're stuck with Composite (and frankly, I'd be surprised that a TV w/Components does not also have VGA or HDMI - HDMI was established over 10 years ago, about the time HD began to be common).

If I use the HP compaq's advanced recovery to restore the laptop to Factory Condition will it erase windows 7?

I have a laptop about five months old, it won't restore from a set point because it says the drive has something corrupt on it, and my cdrom dvd player only worked a couple of times and it stopped. I was thinking about trying the advanced restore option offered that says restore the computer to factory settings, I saved the files I wanted to but will this also wipe off Windows 7 from the computer? I bought it from Walmart if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Answer
If you restore back to factory, it will act like the computer was before you bought it, if it had Windows 7 on it from start, it will again have Windows 7.

The question pretty much describes it... I have a music CD with lots of great music on it. The problem is, a small portion of the "silver stuff" is ripped off. However, the CD Plays perfectly in the DVD player. But my PC doesn't recognize it at all, so I can't rip the songs off of the disc. Any ideas on how I can get the songs off of the CD?

Answer
Find a computer with a DVD player. Test other CDs on your computer to make sure it's not your player? Also, did you burn it/have someone burn it, or did you buy it. If you bought a CD you should go to piratebay.com and download a backup of it from there.

Answer
I think the above answer has a 10% success rate.
You need to find out the name of your drive, and search for that drive with the word "Drivers" on google.
Chances are you can find an easy one....

Microsoft should be able to identify it itself... have you tried manually searching for driver? or rolling back the driver?
