best dvd player buy image
Q. I have a Digital Labs DVD player. I use it a TON. But the adapter is ripping, and the whole thing is probably going to rip anytime soon. Can I buy a new adapter, not including the DVD player (buying the adapter separate)? I've had my DVD player for about a year now, and I have used it ever since.

Answer
Go to the manufacturer's website and see if you can order one. Otherwise, if you know the voltage required and size of the plug, you may be able to get a universal adapter at an electronics store.

Is Super DVD Creator Legal And Is It Safe To Download?

best dvd player software 2012 on One of the most format-friendly receivers available for streaming ...
best dvd player software 2012 image

Would like to find out.

Answer
Yes it is. This software takes home movies, or any video, for that matter, and burns them as a DVD which will play in your DVD player. The only time it is illegal is if you download a ripped copy of a movie company's film, such as 2012, Saw, the Matrix, etc, and then burn it onto a DVD, in which case you would be the one committing the illegal act. So yes, it's perfectly legal, you just have to make sure that, if the video is not yours (it's fine with home movies), that there isn't any copyright associated with the movie - if not, then go for it.

How do I know I have Mountain Lion on my mac?

Eli

I know nothing about computers. I have a Mac Os x ver 10.8.3, How do I know I have it? What does it do? and How do i get it?

Answer
You say... "I have a Mac Os x ver 10.8.3"

and... "How do I know I have it?"

Huh? You can't claim you have it and then ask if you have it.

That's like "I have ten bucks. How do I know I have it?"

In fact, your computer has that, not you. It is software. It is Mountain Lion. All Mac OS X have code names like this....

10.0 = Cheetah
10.1 = Puma
10.2 = Jaguar
10.3 = Panther
10.4 = Tiger
10.5 = Leopard (released 2007-10-26)
10.6 = Snow Leopard (released 2009-8-28)
10.7 = Lion (released 2011-7-20)
10.8 = Mountain Lion (released 2012-7-24)

Go to the top menu bar, Apple logo > About This Mac. In that small window, you can see what the computer has. All Mac computers built after 2012-7-23 have Mountain Lion (OS 10.8.x).

These definitions may help....
ââ> Mac = Macintosh computer. (Various types, such as iMac, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air)

ââ> Apple, Inc. = the company that makes all Mac computers.

ââ> OS = operating system, a system of apps that make up the basic software for a home computer. Some of that software is rather essential; other bits are extras, such as iTunes or DVD Player.

ââ> app = application (software that serves an exact purpose of accomplishing something useful. You can think of it as the same thing as "program" to a PC geek, but in fact, a program runs, an app does something or allows your doing something, so an app is a useful program.

ââ> X = Roman numeral with a value of ten (when speaking of "OS X"). Another use of X is an unknown value, as in "Please solve this equation for X: 17 + X = 20." A third use of X is a substitute for a signature if someone is illiterate, as in "Please mark your X at the end of the contract."

Do people shout "Eli is brilliant!"? If not, remedy that by reading, such as at http://en.wikipedia.org That's how you can look up the meaning of "Mountain Lion" and at least a hundred other things.

For general guidance in using the computer, try the links below.

I recently just purchased a in dash dvd/cd reciever to replace my factory radio. The cd and everything else works great but when i take the car out of park a blue screen pops up and says that its iilegal to drive while watching a movie and the movie will not show a picture until the car is in park. I thought that was so stupid. I mean I understand their promoting safety and all but whats the point of having a dvd player in the car if you cant watch it. I mean how much am i going to really be in park. Also what if i have other passengers in the car and they want to watch a movie, they cant because of this stupid feature. So if anybdy can help me or know any tricks that i can use to turn off this feature please let me know, because the company that i got it from is entirely no help.

Answer
The unit has a wire that is connected to the e-brake and depending on your model needs to be grounded or hooked up to a 12volt feed.

-Note:( In response to all those who post below, the argument that anyone who tells you how to do this(Obvious: Freedom of Speech, Constitutional Right) or the manufacturer can get sued is false,( This would only be the case if the safety system was either non-existent or faulty, in this case it is neither because the consumer is voiding the warranty and manually modifying the component for unsafe use))
That said:
If you do this it voids your warranty, and you are held responsible for any legal action or injuries that result from it

Q. when is the next ine going to come out and should i wait to buy a ps3 or 360 until another one of those consles come out?

Answer
PS3 is supposed to have a 10 year life cycle, but the industry, and everyone is predicting is that we will see the next PS around 2014-2015. The next XBox will come out much sooner, as the XBox 360 is already maxed out in terms of graphics and physics, it will probably be released around 2010-2011. My advice, grab a PS3. I have a 360, PS3, and Wii and the PS3 has become my main platform for gaming. My brother plays the 360 while I play the PS3 and Wii.

EDIT: To counter the post under me, Major Nelson is in charge of XBL and is in charge of PR. He would never say that the next XBox is coming out soon, but here is the evidence:

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2007/03/13/next-xbox-720-to-launch-in-2011-2012-according-to-microsoft.htm

A Microsoft DEVELOPER said that they are already working on the next XBOX, and here is one more thing:

http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/formats/xbox360/rumour-project-phoenix-xbox-720-and-x-engine-$1306788.htm

Basically, MS ran a couple of job listings a while ago stating that they needed people experienced with gaming hardware in order for their next console codenamed Phoenix. The original idea was for it to be 10 years, but because Blu-Ray beat HD-DVD, the XBox is now behind the PS3 in terms of graphics and what the 360 can do in terms of physics and AI. The hardware is basically the same, but the DVD-9, that the 360 uses has 9 gigs of space, while Blu-Ray discs, what the PS3 uses, has 50 gigs of space. Because of that devs can put more things on the PS3 than the 360. Here is proof:

http://www.totalvideogames.com/GTA-IV/news/Further-GTA-IV-Details-Unearthed-11032.html

Rockstar, the developer behind GTA IV, said that they had to "dumb-down" GTA IV in order for it to be equal on the PS3 and the 360 because of the lack of disk space on the 360. They originally had a much bigger game planned, but when they approached MS about making GTA IV multi-disc, they said no way, thus we got the gimped, but still good, version of GTA IV.

In summary, because the PS3 has a next-gen disc format (Blu-Ray) while the 360 relies on DVD, we will see the next XBox much sooner than anyone thinks.

Yet another EDIT:

The 360 had better exclusives until 2008. The PS3 has fantastic games like Killzone 2, InFamous, Uncharted, Uncharted 2, Ratchet and Clank, LittleBigPlanet, and SOCOM. They have games like Heavy Rain, God Of War III, and MAG (256 player FPS game) coming out in 2009. The 360 has great games like Gears Of War 1 and 2, Halo 3, and Forza 2, but their exclusives list is becoming SHORTER as time goes on. The only thing they have going for them is Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach. IMO, MS is relying on Halo WAY to much, and it will bite them in the ass.

In terms of games, the 360 has a bigger library right now, but the PS3 will have a bigger and better library after 2009.

PS3 anyone!?

Q. tell me everything you know about this ps3! i want the game kingdom hearts 3 on it! i want to know everything about that game too! if u know anything about those two things tell me at once! plz and thankz

Answer
Here is everything that I know about the PS3 as of date.

PlayStation 3

The PlayStation 3 (Japanese: ãã¬ã¤ã¹ãã¼ã·ã§ã³ 3,, PureisutÄshon SurÄ«?, trademarked PLAYSTATION 3,[2] abbreviated PS3) is Sony's seventh generation era video game console, third in the PlayStation series. It is the successor to the PlayStation 2 and will compete against Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Nintendo's Wii. The PS3 is scheduled for release on November 11, 2006 in Japan and November 17, 2006 worldwide, and will ship in two initial configurations.

Sony officially unveiled the PS3 to the public on May 16, 2005 during an E3 conference. A functional version of the console was not at E3 2005 or the Tokyo Game Show in September 2005, although at both events, demonstrations were held on devkits (e.g. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots) and comparable PC hardware, and video footage based on the predicted PS3 specifications was produced (e.g. Mobile Suit Gundam).[3] It wasn't until E3 2006 that games were shown on actual PlayStation 3 systems. In preparation for launch, Sony has announced that there will be 27 playable PS3 titles on show at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2006 on final hardware.[4]

Thus far, public reception of the console has been mixed with the Sony stock market price declining partially due to worries about the future of the PlayStation brand and its profitability.[5] However, Sony's chief has cited its widespread developer support and advanced "future-proofed" technologies such as Blu-ray and the Cell microprocessor, as ensuring the continued success of the PlayStation platform.[6]

Overview

System configuration

Sony's initial retail strategy for the PlayStation 3 will involve two different configurations that are detailed in a Sony press release.[7] The "premium" version of the PlayStation 3 will come with an internal 60 GB hard drive, Wi-Fi connectivity, HDMI output, and multiple flash memory card readers, and features a brighter cosmetic silver-colored logo and trim. The second and alternate configuration of the console will have a 20 GB internal hard drive but will not feature Wi-Fi, HDMI, or a memory card reader. The hard drive is upgradeable, and memory card and Wi-Fi support can be added through adaptors, but the HDMI support is not upgradeable.[8]

The lack of HDMI output in the 20 GB model (as with the Xbox 360 or player lacking HDCP) could potentially cause problems with restricted output resolution on Blu-ray video. An ICT flag can be set by content producers, which forces non-HDCP video down to a pixel resolution of 960Ã540 (50% greater than DVD-Video at NTSC resolution, and 25% greater than PAL resolution). SCEA president Kaz Hirai stated that it is "too early to speculate at this point" whether movie producers will activate the ICT feature.[9] According to German publisher Spiegel, a behind-the-scenes agreement was made to not enforce the ICT flag on next-generation optical formats until at least 2010, or possibly even 2012.[10]

David Wilson, Head of Public Relations at Sony Computer Entertainment UK, stated that both models will likely be sold in the UK market, but both may not be available at launch.[13] There, Sony has said that the black color is to be the first on sale, followed by the silver and white color in March 2007.[citation needed] Previously, Sony Computer Entertainment UK Marketing Director Ray Maguire had stated that only the 60 GB version would be available at launch.[22]

In Japan, Sony has opted to go with an open pricing scheme for the 60 GB model, allowing retailers to set a price point themselves. Rakuten, one of the biggest Japanese online retailers, has set their price point at ¥71,800, or ¥75,390 with taxes added (about 675 USD).[23]

The PS3 has received mixed reviews for its price. It is significantly higher than its same-generation competition in all world markets.[24] Sony has publicly defended its pricing model, citing the PS3's higher performance and inclusion of a Blu-ray drive, of which stand-alone players cost an average of US$1,000.[9]

Game pricing
There have also been statements by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) President and CEO Kaz Hirai suggesting games may cost somewhere between $60 and $100 USD[25], more than the US$60 standard for higher-priced games.[26] Futureshop, a Canadian electronics store, has priced each game at C$69.99 (~US$62[

Backward compatibility

Sony has stated that the PlayStation 3 will have backward compatibility with the PlayStation and PlayStation 2, and that every PS1 and PS2 game that observes its respective system's TRC (Technical Requirements Checklist) will be playable on PS3 at launch.[1]SCE president Ken Kutaragi asked developers to adhere to the TRC to facilitate compatibility with future PlayStations, stating that the company was having some difficulty getting backward compatibility with games that had not followed the TRCs. "Either it's accidental or on purpose; there's actually a lot of games that don't follow the TRC."[28]. It has been reported that initial PS3 units will include the CPU/rasterizer combination chip used in slim PS2 (EE+GS) to achieve backward compatibility.[29]

The PlayStation 3 does not include interfaces for legacy PlayStation devices, but there will be an adapter for the memory cards[5] so users can save their PS1/PS2 data on to a virtual memory card in the hard drive. USB devices for PlayStation 2 may be compatible with PlayStation 3. PlayStation 3 can use Memory Sticks to store save data for PlayStation and PlayStation 2 software.

Software development
The PlayStation 3, unlike the PlayStation and PlayStation 2 systems[citation needed], is based on open and publicly available application programming interfaces. The PlayStation 3 development kit was recently praised by IGN as having "distinct lack of noise and heat coming from the system". Despite earlier rumours of programming being difficult,[31] IGN reports that they were told that the dev kit "seemed extremely adaptive and easy to program for".[32]

The list of standards they are reported to be considering includes:

IPv6, the next generation of the Internet Protocol. [37]
Sony has selected several technologies and arranged several sublicensing agreements to create an advanced software development kit for developers. In addition, in 2005 Sony purchased SN Systems, a former provider of Microsoft Windows-based development tools for a variety of console platforms; including PlayStation 2, GameCube, PSP and Nintendo DS to create additional GNU development tools. Sony is providing all developers with GNU toolchains[citation needed] where SN Systems will provide customer-oriented wrappers for GNU tools at an additional cost.

Interface and operating system

The PlayStation 3 version of the Cross Media Bar demonstrated at E3 2006 (video) included options for different user profiles, the ability to explore photos, play music and movies from the hard drive, compatibility for a USB Keyboard and Mouse, a full Internet browser and a Friends menu. In a separate demo Sony presented the "Marketplace" where users can buy and download music.

Linux will be pre-installed on the PS3 hard drive. Currently it is unknown if Linux will be the operating system used to run everything, including the Cross Media Bar, or if the system will operate as a dual boot environment, where Linux would be loaded from the Cross Media Bar menu.

Because we have plans for having Linux on board [the PS3], we also recognize Linux programming activities⦠Other than game studios tied to official developer licenses, we'd like to see various individuals participate in content creation for the PS3.
âIzumi Kawanishi on the presence of the Linux in the PS3.

PlayStation Network Platform

In response to Microsoft's successful Xbox Live network, Sony announced a unified online service for the Playstation 3's console at the 2006 PlayStation Business Briefing meeting in Tokyo; tentatively titled "PlayStation Network Platform". Sony has confirmed that the service will be always connected[39], free and include multiplayer support. However developers are permitted to charge a subscription fee, as is common with MMO games.

PlayStation Network Platform (PNP or PSNP) is the online service to be provided for use with the Sony PlayStation 3 video game console.[1]

It's currently in development by Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Europe with the Sony Online Entertainment. Parts of PNP will incorporate the Central Station (already working in Europe) and a possible integration with Connect.com marketplace.

Services
On March 15, 2006 at the PlayStation Business Briefing, Sony confirmed that they are preparing for an Xbox Live-like online service tentatively named PlayStation Network Platform with free online play and better network adapter sequencing.

The full list of planned services for the PlayStation Network Platform is as follows.[1]

Comparison to Xbox Live
Unlike Xbox Live (a service provided for the Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360 consoles, which has proved to be the most successful so far), Sony will offer a PNP "basic" service comparable to the Xbox Live Silver service, except that it will additionally allow users to play games online for free. However, the downloading of extra content is likely to require a fee.

Also, Xbox Live is a more unified service, with a central server and global ranking and lobby system. With PNP, developers can devise their own system and use their own servers to a way beneficial to the game.

Hardware specifications
Unless otherwise noted, the following specifications are based on a press release by Sony at the 2005 E3 Conference,[40] and slides from a Sony presentation at the 2006 Game Developer's Conference.[41]

The floating point performance of the whole system (CPU + GPU) is reported to be 2.18 TFLOPS[40]. PlayStation 3's Cell CPU achieves 218 GFLOPS single precision float and is reported at around 26 GFLOPS double precision.

Central processing unit

3.2 GHz Cell processor: one PowerPC-based "Power Processing Element" and seven active 3.2 GHz Synergistic Processing Elements (SPEs). The PPE has a 512 KB L2 cache and one VMX (AltiVec) vector unit. Each of the SPEs is a RISC processor with 128 128-bit SIMD GPRs and superscalar functions. Each SPE has 256 KB of L1 cache/software-addressable 4.8 GHz SRAM, called the "Local Store".

Only seven of eight SPEs are active to improve yield. If one of the eight has a manufacturing defect, it is disabled without rendering the entire unit defective or affecting performance. If more than one of eight is defective, the Cell may be used in IBM BladeCenters for other applications. The current version of the PlayStation's operating system requires dedicated use of one of the seven active SPEs, leaving six SPEs directly available to applications.

Graphics processing unit

Based on a downgraded NVIDIA G70 (previously known as NV47) architecture
Clocked at 550 MHz
128-bit DDR memory interface
211.2 GFLOPS programmable (384 FLOPS per clock), 1.8 TFLOPS total

E3 2005 showcased Sony's "boomerang" design, which was abandoned after poor public reaction and replaced with an upgraded wireless version of the DualShock 2 at E3 2006. The new controller features finer analogue sensitivity[48], more trigger-like R2 and L2 buttons, Home button like the PSP and Xbox 360, and a USB mini-B port for charging the internal battery and use for wired play. There are four numbered LED indicators, to identify and distinguish multiple wireless controllers. The major feature revealed was the ability to sense both rotational orientation and translational acceleration,[48] similar to the previously announced capabilities of the Nintendo Wii controller. Games that use this feature will come with an option to turn it off. Sony has stated that because of these sensors, the rumble feature of the previous controllers has been removed, reasoning that the vibration interferes with motion-sensing.[48] Haptics developer Immersion Corporation (who successfully sued Sony)[49] expressed skepticism of Sony's rationale,[50] and has since introduced tilt and motion-sensing which filters out vibration in software.

Other information
Sony revealed PS3 would use heat pipes and claims the system will be as quiet as a slim PS2[7] ~29dB (A). The PlayStation 3 is approximately 5 kg (11 lbs), 9.8 cm à 32.5 cm à 27.4 cm (3.9 in. à 12.8 in. à 10.8 in.)

Paul

I want to put my laptop in my car and attach it to the front seats so my kids can watch DVD movies when we travel any amount of distance.

Is there any such product on the market?

Please dont reply telling me to buy a portable DVD player DVD player for the car!

Answer
using computer in the car is not always advisable as computer is very delicate to handle even if there is a good harness for that. just bear in mind if the road is so curvy, lot of holes, mountainous, rugged, etc.
if i were you, better buy a car navigator (GPS) that is equipped with DVD player, CD/CD-R player/MP3 player; HDD; ducking connectors such as iPod or portable players; with ducking connector for cellphone to check calls/emails on the main screen; and the like. though it's a bit expensive, but i guess it's more better and you don't need to attach and detach it anymore like of computer.
(mine cost for about $3,500dollars) but with lot more features aside from what i had mentioned above.
at any rate, there are lot of car harness depending on what type you want. check it either in car dealer shops or over the car shops.

Need help transferring a vid from a MacBook Pro to a Windows comp!?

Beka

I have a video that was made on a MacBook Pro that I need on a DVD. The Mac computer did not have the software to burn a DVD. I saved the file to my flash drive. I have a windows 7 computer. Would iTunes work in this case? Help!

Answer
For OS 10.8.4 and Windows 7 / 8 and MP4, just copy to a thumb drive that is formatted FAT-32.
Windows Media Player version 12 can play modern, non-MS video.

All MacBook Pros have the software to burn data to a DVD.

For burning a DVD movie disc (with menus and chapters, and playable in a DVD set-top player), if your MacBook Pro is 2011 or newer, you have two options....
â Buy iLife '11 DVD from Amazon, and install iDVD from it.
â Get the free DVD Styler, link below.

What is the best way to run cd/dvd programs off of hard drive?

John

I have a new Windows 7 Ultrabook (no dvd drive) laptop. Just wondering how best to run old programs/games off of the hard drive? I have a external dvd player to transfer the files. Thanks.
Some games (like Madden/Civilization) require you to leave the CD/DVD in the Drive and not run it completely off the CD/DVD Drive.
I mean run it completely off the hard drive.

Answer
It's best to reinstall any applications or games on the new computer instead of copy and pasting the files over. Sometimes that will work but a lot of the time the programs have dependencies installed in other places (such as the registry or a folder with saved data).

To transfer you will need to hook up your old hard drive to a PC and burn the files to a cd or flash drive.

Answer
Use Windows DVD Maker.

I am using a tool called DVD Creator which lets me burn WMV and all other kinds of videos to DVD easily. Any format you want, it can burn to DVDs. Supports Single and Dual Layer Disc. Easy to use and professional. It lets you burn multiple WMV movies on one DVD disc. And it's fast.

Once you've burnt the DVD, you can watch it on DVD player through TV.

You may give it a try. Check out the step by step guide at:

Is there a dvd player available that will read and play a windows media video disk?

chimaymx

is there a dvd player that can play a windows media video disk?

There isn't dvd player which can read and play windows media video disc, because most regular DVD player only recognize the standard video DVD which include VOB, IFO and BUP files, some Divx/Xvid DVD player can read divx/xvid avi videos on dvd disc. So if you want to convert/burn any videos to DVD to play well on regular DVD player, you should use the right program, I am using RZ DVD Creator to do this well, it can convert any burn any movies to video DVD/Divx AVI video/Xvid AVI video, such as convert/burn windows media video to video DVD, etc. You can yahoo or google serach RZ DVD Creator and download it, easy to use, good quality, hope it can help you.

How do I watch Blu-ray movies on Windows 7?

I recently purchased a brand new MSI A6300 notebook. It comes with a blu-ray player and Windows 7. I have tried to use Intervideo WinDVD 8. But unfortunately, it does not play any BD discs. Supposedly Corel does not support this version of the software anymore.

Are there any alternative programs I can download for free to watch Bluray movies on Windows 7?

Answer
If it has a built in Blue Ray CD/DVD drive you do not need any additional software than what is installed on the laptop. Read the user guide/manual for the laptop section on using the optical drive.

go into the add/remove programs and it will tell you the last time it was accessed....but sometimes that date is incorrect....i use Firefox 90% of the time and my add/remove programs say last used 16 June 2010...even though i use it everyday......so really there is no way to really tell the last time it was used....

best dvd player avi image

Adam A

I want to know how to make a disc that will play in my dvd player from the movies I've downloaded on limewire (usually avi). Thanks for any info.

Answer
Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, never had a problem!

It will convert your video files to the dvd format readable by all standard dvd players, then burn automatically to DVD!

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:
http://www.burner-software.com/AVI-to-DVD-Converter/AVI-DivX-XVid-to-DVD.php?exact=ConvertXtoDVD3

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, mp4, avi to dvd

2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

3. Insert blank DVD

4. Click "Convert"

5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

ConvertXtoDVD has a lot of extra nice features too,
for example you can make your own ANIMATED DVD menu or auto-generate it, add subtitles, auto-burn to dvd or save your conversion.

How to play an avi file on a normal DVD player without conversion?

I am trying to play an avi file on my DVD player but unfortunately it doesnt work. A friend of mine made a DVD disk which had 4 avi movies and they all worked perfectly on my DVD player. Can anyone tell me which software should I use to make my avi movies work on my DVD player perfectly? And from where can I download that software which will make the movie play without conversion? You need a Divx/AVI/Xvid Compatible DVD Player.

You Probably have a Standard DVD Player which CANT Read AVI.

My husband and I are taking our kids to Disney in June, I was wondering we have been window shopping for portable DVD players for the car. Preferably a dual. But for some reason every dual dvd player that we have seen has terrible reviews from other people. Out of chance does anyone have or know of a great dual portable dvd player for the car that you can say works great and really recommend? Thanks in advance.

Answer
My wife and I are lalso taking the kids to Disney in June and I have been shopping for a dual dvd system. I know that as a norm, you get what you pay for but there has to be a decently priced sytem that has good ratings. Keep me updated please if make a decision and I will do the same.

Can you take a portable DVD player on an airplane?

Mama

I will be taking a flight that will last about 2 1/2 hours, but my toddler is coming with me. I planned to bring her a portable DVD player and she can sit and watch cartoons to occupy the time she'll be sitting still for.

Answer
Yes, you can, I do the same thing for my toddler when we fly. Be aware that you will have to take the DVD player out of your carry-on at the security checkpoint and place it in a bin by itself to send through the x-ray machine. Once on the plane you can only have it on at cruising altitude; the flight attendants will make an announcement when electronics can be turned on, and another when they must be turned off.

Also, as a courtesy to the other passengers, please remember to bring headphones to be used with the DVD player. I have been on flights where several kids didn't have headphones, just had their DVD players blaring, and that is WAY more irritating, in my opinion, than a crying baby on a plane.

Australia is region 4, USA and Canada are region 1, I want to buy some TV series on DVD which are 10x cheaper in region 1 format, if I spend $30 on a multi-region DVD player will I be able to watch region 1 DVDs on it? I assume it should work since it's called a multi-region DVD player but I can totally imagine that after I buy one I'll find out it doesn't bloody work or something.

Answer
More than likely such a player will ignore region altogether, and convert the video format on the disc to your TV format.

The only real issue is getting US based DVD vendors to ship to Australia at all.

good dvd player that plays dvds from different regions?

LonelyBast

I'm looking for a dvd players that plays dvds from other regions (0, 2, 4, etc) I live in America (Reg 1) and have always wanted to get a player that does that but don't know what a good brand is or how easy one can be bought. Thanks.

Answer
You cannot openly buy them, or more accurately, other than Region 1 only players cannot be openly sold in The USA/Canada.

Many low end "import" players are easily hackable, or may be region free even. Those can usually be easily bought at discount electronics and department stores.

There is no such thing as Region 0, BTW.

In general the answer is no as those devices are output only.

The cheapest solutions are two copies of the same movie or a portable monitor slaved off one player.

Then again you could do digital down loads on lap tops

Can you hook up a portable dvd player to another portable dvd player?

I have 2 single portable dvd players and wondering if I could hook them up together to make a dual portable dvd player so we can watch the same dvd movie on both screens.

Answer
No.

It isn't even clear to me what you want to do but I can assure you neither of these DVD players have inputs, which means you can not hook them "together".

Can I hook up a 600 watt DVD player to speakers that belong to a DVD player with lower wattage?

best quality dvd players on best sellers the new york times best sellers children s books ...
best quality dvd players image

puppamama

Only onfo I can find on old dvd player specs is: power consumption(dvd unit) = 116 W. If I hook those old speakers up to the new 600W player will is affect the sound quality?

Answer
The wattage is important when you are considering volume. If you turn up a 600 Watt DVD player to a very high volume on 116 Watt speakers you will blow the speakers.

Sound quality, on the other hand, is not related to wattage. While it is normally true that high wattage speakers tend to be higher quality, that is not always true. Great speakers may not always be high wattage speakers.

On another note, 600 Watt DVD players normally put out multiple channels. That is to say that each speaker will receive a separate signal from the DVD player. So most likely your 600 Watts are put out at 100 Watts per channel for six channels. That would cover two rear speakers, two front speakers, a center channel and a sub-woofer. That is the standard surround sound stereo system.

The answer to your question is that there is no reason that you cannot use the old speakers with the new DVD player. If you liked the quality of the sound with the old DVD player and speakers, you will most likely like the new DVD player and old speakers just as much if not more.

Take care,
Troy

I want to burn a dvd with a mp4 movie including its subtitle which can be playable at home dvd player...most importantly without any video quality loss, with subtitle and less weight so that i can burn as many movies as i can in a DVD5 or DVD9...How do i do it?....i need the best answer since i was trying to burn those movies in a dvd 9.But unfortunately,i don't know what's the reason i succesfully burnt it but its not playing in my home dvd player...Do i still need to keep the mp4 format of the movie or do i have to convert it to any other format so that the weight can be less....??

Answer
DVDs that you play in a DVD player do not have mp4's on them they have .vob files. It sounds like you have just burned an .mp4 onto a DVD and expected it to work in a DVD player because it's on a DVD. Unfortunately that's not the way it works, a DVD player will usually only read a certain format of video and it has to be laid out in a very specific way on the disc. When it is in the correct format it is called a video DVD when it is just an mp4 file or other files (documents or whatever) then it is called a data DVD. Depending on the length of the movie you can probably fit the whole thing onto a dvd5 (single layer) without losing quality but you need to do it through a program like nero (windows) or toast (mac). Select the option that allows you to make a video DVD and the program (assuming it has the correct codecs to be able to read your video file) will create the vob files for you and arrange them on the disk in the correct way.

EDIT: Lossless (no loss of quality) conversion is possible, I do it every day. If you are coming from an HD file though then it will lose quality going to SD (standard definition), or if the video is particularly long then the 'bitrate' (amount of data required to make a second of video) will have to be reduced and you will lose quality. Part of the problem you will find is that most SD videos on the internet are 525i/p at best whereas a UK DVD player will e 625i... The video's may well look better on your computer screen than it will on your TV set (even if you were using the TV set as a monitor for the computer) because of how much better the processing is in a computer graphics card than on a TV set. Either way, you need to download Nero or Toast or some other 3rd party software.
