How set Windows Media Player 12 as default DVD player under Windows 8?

I would also like to know if you can play a DVD trough Video player on Metro Interface

Answer
Windows 8 cannot play DVD movies. You'll have to download DVD movie playback software for that, like VLC.

To set WMP as the default go to the start screen.

Type the word default and the Default Programs tile will appear.

Click that and it'll open Default Programs in the Control Panel.

Click the Set your default programs link.

A list of programs will appear in the right hand side of the window. Scroll to the bottom to find Windows Media Player and click to select it.

Once it's selected click the Set this program as default button.

WMP is now you default player.
