Which is the best multimedia player in linux ?

Bagga

I'm looking for best multimedia player in linux. Like winamp, musicmatch in windows.

Answer
My favourite player is VLC Player. VLC stands apart from other player in the category of mutlimedia players. VLC Media Player offers a one-stop solution for the file-format problem. The program supports playback of OGG, MP2, MP3, MP4, DivX, DVD, and a whole slew of other file types. In addition, it also can function as a streaming media server. Because of its open-source foundation, VLC Media Player evolves quickly, with new features and fixes released frequently. Though the interface varies from platform to platform, the sparseness of the Windows version leaves plenty to be desired.

The best part is that it can even play parts of corrupted files, which other player cannot do. Even if you don't have codecs of a particular file format, it will play it.

Its also very light on memory and the processor.

The only con of this player is that its interface is too plain, no sophistication, not that good a GUI. But if you are looking for some serious Mutimedia playing, this is right for the job.

You can download it from:
