Does it really worth it to buy an HD Upconverting DVD Player??

I have a lot of DVDs and I recently bought a 720p Sharp HDTV.

I want to see mi DVDs as better as possible, and surfing the web I've seen some DVD players that claim to upconvert DVDs to HD. Are they really that good, do you recommend me to buy one of those, and why?? or it is better to save my 100 dollars and buy something else?? Thanks for your help.

well it depends from person to person HD dvd players are kinda pricey right now but just like dvd players in the past they will get cheaper, i have an up-converting dvd player right now and i watch my movies on 720p LCD tv the quality is better than dvd players and slightly lower than hd dvd however im happy with the quality it also gives me time to see who wins the platform wars between HD dvd and Blue ray, hopefully by then those players will be much cheaper and maybe then i can afford to buy a player that plays dvd,s, hd dvd;s and blue-ray.
But if u prefer to have the newest gadgets on the market then go for the blu-ray
