DVD player problems. Copy protection??? WTF!!!?

wesellwaym

Whenever I try n play a dvd it comes up with an error that says something like copy protection error between drive and decoder and player or something like that. Then, even more stupidly it doesnt have this problem when I actually do play pirate DVDS!!!! Whats going on here? Is there a codec I need?

Answer
you can switch to another dvd player program, like VLC player, it is free and able to play all dvd and regular video files
http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

you can also rip the dvd to computer in reuglar video formats, thus you can play it in windows media player/quicktime
You can use wondershare dvd ripper platinum, it is able to rip dvds to computer in 1:1. it is also capable to save dvd to computer in regular video format.
Not like some ordinary DVD rippers, wondershare can rip even copyright protected DVDs, so just give it a shot.

if you are using mac os, you can use the mac version of wondershare

DVD player disc error?

This is a follow-up to this question http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100324091741AABxV3O. I neglected to mention that the problem did not start when the DVD player was first purchased, it worked fine initially. Also, I have discovered that it will play some store bought DVDs, but not others. Any ideas?

Answer
Dvd player are region dependent.meaning different players have specific region that the unit can play.
american/asian/middle east have different region.try to look for the region on the cd/dvd before buying. also some players are very sensitive to pirated cd's/dvd. they only work to cds/dvd which are original.
