my portable dvd player charger just broke....the cord snapped. can i just go to walmart and get a new one?

Yes, as long as you will buy one with the same specifications/ratings as the original charger. it should have the same voltage and current ratings as required and most importantly the plug will fit into your portable DVD player.
I would go to Radioshack and ask for assistance as walmart may sell chargers but their sales clerk don't really have technical knowledge.. But if you are sure, then walmart is cheaper..
