DVD Player with no software?

Ok I recently bought a pc at a yard sale with no cd's....it only had the product key used for that pc so I used my windows xp cd and rebooted the whole thing. It's running good. Problem the DVD player have no software and won't work? I put a DvD in and it keeps giving me error messages saying that I need to install the software that came with the player....is there anyway to do this without knowing what kind of Dvd player it is.....? Thanks for help in advance!

Try downloading free DVD software. I think Nero has a free one and there are several others. Good luck.

Microsoft doesn't ship Windows Media Player with MPEG-2 decoder. I guess the licensing fee is too much for them. When you install a third-party DVD player, WMP will use the decoder.

I need a Free DVD software that will allow me to download and burn movies for my home DVD player?

I have to get one that will NOT make it so the words (the logo of the burner program) show up on the movie when it is played. I have tried 2 so far and they both made words show up in the top of the screen. So Please if you can help me gimme some answers! have to be able to download from like limewire or other so that i can play the movie on my Home DVD player

Hello, this question may be vague, but I use to have a DVD Player Software on my computer that I liked. I liked it because it would let you take screen shots and I like collecting images from my favorite shows/movies. I remember this certain software had a construction cone as the icon. Does anyone know what I am talking about? If not, can someone recommended another free DVD playing software? (But it must have the option where I can capture screen shots.)

I have downloaded lots of moves in dvdrip that is .avi format, now I want to write them onto a dvd in such a format it becomes playable in standalone dvd players. I need to find a DVD player that is FREE for a University Open Access computer lab(s.) Approximately 1500 workstations in all. I know a lot of software state "FREE" if it is installed on only 1 computer, however we are an educational institution. Can anyone help?
