I have downloaded lots of moves in dvdrip that is .avi format, now I want to write them onto a dvd in such a format it becomes playable in standalone dvd players. Please suggest such softwares, free ones are more appreciable. If it is possible with common softwares such as Nero, please explain the procedure. Thanks in advance.

Answer
you can try avs video converter, convert video between almost any formats:AVI (DivX, XviD, etc.), DV AVI, MP4 (inc. Sony PSP and Apple iPod), WMV, 3GP, 3G2, QuickTime (MOV, QT), SWF, DVD, VOB, VRO,MPG, MPEG 1,2,4, MOD, DAT, VCD, SVCD, ASF, ASX, MJPEG, H.263, H.264, Real Video (RM, RMVB), DVR-MS, MKV, OGM, FLV,etc.
if you need, you can free download it here to have a try,

What is the best FREE region free DVD player to run on Windows Vista?

gt_bayarea

Windows Media Player on my new PC running Windows Vista is limiting my ability to play foreign language DVDs purchased in other countries (it says that the DVD is not made for region 1). It I tried to look for a FREE region-independent DVD player software, but my search turned up only unreliable players like RioDVD Region Free Player. Are there any recommendations out there?

Thanks.

Answer
VLC media player will play literally anything. It's hard to find files that VLC won't play. (Well, of course I mean files that are media files)
