my famil went on a 10hr trip to paris.
we had a three year old...
she had her OWN portable dvd player, and a couple coloring books. food always works too, cuz then he/she will fall asleep for at least 2 hrs.

six year old will probably only need his/her own portable dvd player and a zillion dvds. i have noticed that 6 year olds get bored of one movie very fast

11 year old will definatly want a laptop if they have myspace, or any chat room account. if you dont feel like hooking it up to internet, you can always download a bunch of games to it before the flight. my younger sister was 11 and she had an ipod as well as a laptop w/ lots of games

I have a single screen DVD player and need another one to share with 2nd child. Is there any way to hook a laptop or portable tv so they can use one player?

The DVD player needs an A/V out. Quite a few have that.

The TV needs A/V in, and most that you would use will have A/V in.

To use your laptop as a TV, you need a tuner/capture card.
