i dont know anything about car systems or car dvd player ... buying it for a christmas present - just want some generel knowledge on the item and what are some good brands? pioneer? alpine? thanks so much!

Answer
No car dvd players will come from the factory able to play while the car is in motion. There are ways to bypass that safety feature. I am a huge fan of Pioneer in general. I've never had an in dash dvd player but I have had the pioneer headunit i have now for five years and its still going strong. I don't know much about alpine. I think the Kenwood dvd players look cool. They are a bit more expensive though.

How do I bypass the warning on my car dvd player?

I bought a 2007 charger and I got my 2 year old son one of them jensen vm9312HD car dvd players and it wont play while the car is in motion. Can anyone help me to figure this out r tell me where to go for help? Thanks a million!

Answer
I had this same problem, if it plays when its parked then it has a little safety feature that involves a wire, maybe pink in color for your headunit that will only allow it to play when parked. Now if you splice it into the red or yellow, I'd choose red since its not constant, it will play movies anytime.

If it won't play them even when parked then it is not hooked up to a wire or its hooked up to ground and therefor should be hooked to a positive wire, red or yellow. If you didn't put it in yourself then you can take it to an audio shop, maybe check in phonebook for someone local.

But the easy way would be to use a bypass code since there is ojne for your hu. I copy these instructions from ecoustics.com

http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/...

The parking brake bypass procedure is as follows:

1: Go into AM/FM mode
2: Hit "setup" on the remote control
3: Enter 543210 on the remote, listening for the beep for each number entered
4: A new menu will appear. Touch the button that has the hammer/screwdriver on it in the upper left-hand part of the screen.
5: Select Brake bypass to "ON" and hit the "X" near the bottom of the screen.
6: Use the unit wisely and above all safely. A ticket is one thing, causing a fatal accident due to negligence is another.

I don't know if it really works but you could try it, if not use the wiring method above.
