How do I download a Youtube video & burn onto dvd that will play in all dvd players?

newyear4me

I have downloaded Youtube Downloader from Download.com. But for some reason it will only transfer them into Ipod videos. It won't let me change it.

I'm trying to figure out exactly what format it has to be to play in all dvds on a burnt dvd.
Thank you all for the help. As of now, the only thing I have accomplished, besides getting frustrated & wasting time, is getting the videos from Youtube onto my computer as MP3 file.
Once I try to burn a dvd...it makes it some format that even my 2nd computer can't open?!?
I've downloaded so many programs, most of them are "free" but to convert the file you have to pay.
I wonder if there's a "Burning dvds for Dummies" book?!?!

I need some help with defining terms used when buying a new DVD player?

I was planning to get a Sony Blue Ray disk player until I found out that all my regular disks and box sets won't play on a blue ray is that true? Next what do all those terms on the best buy site mean like 1080 input, HDMI, progressive scan? I just want the thing to work with good picture quality and play all my disks. I will be hooking it to a 50 inch HDTV that I already own. The player I have now is acting up and saying no disk sometimes when I try to play a disk so I think I need a new one. I am considering Sony or Samsung as I heard they are good players. Any advise or suggestions and help with these terms used is greatly appreciated.

Answer
Sony or any Blue Ray disk player will play any regular DVD and CD. Only format it might have problem is VCD format. You don't have to worry about that because that format is used mostly in Asia. All the stories in western stores sell only DVD or Blue ray. So for that matter, you don't have to worry about it.
As for 1080 input, there are two HD video formats. That is 1080i (stand for interlace) and 1080p (stand for progressive scan) as you mention. Don't buy the one that support only 1080i because 1080 is inferior to 1080p. But you can buy anything that support 1080p (progress scan) because 1080p is the last tier and it's support all the video formats such as 1080,1080i, 720p , 720i , 420i ,420p , analog and so on , just to make you more confuse but I am sure you get my point. Buying 1080p will cover all the technical difficulty and comparability.
HTMI is new digital cable to connect TV and digital player. It combine both audio and video in one cable and it's the only and best option to connected 50 inch HDTV and your blue ray player of choice. I am sure you remember those three cables that stick together with red, white, and yellow cable that used to connected old TV and DVD or videos player. HTMI is new cable and , therefore, all the devices that use it have new plug for it. It is high quality cable that can transport a lot more audio and video quality than those 3 colors cable. It is important to get that one too but I am sure your 50 inch HDTV will already have it and any blue ray player you buy would have it too.
Last, I don't know about samsung but blue ray is invented by sony and I got Sony playstation3. In my option , Sony playstation3 is the best blue ray player because it can connected to Internet wireless or with Ethernet cable(you will need that to play some blue ray Disc) , play PS3 game, and stream (watch ) movie files from your computer to HDTV without anything else. Last but not least is that you can surf internet in PS3 and watch youtube and any other video site.
